After graduating from the national conservatory (CNSMD) in Lyon, where she was a student of Hortense Cartier-Bresson, Marie Vermeulin perfected her art with Lazar Berman and Roger Muraro, benefitting in particular from the latter’s profound knowledge of French 20th century music. In 2004, she won the first prize in the Tournoi International de Musique (Rome); in 2006, second prize in the Maria Canals international Competition (Barcelona), then in 2007 second prize in the Olivier Messiaen international Competition (Paris). Marie Vermeulin performs regularly in numerous festivals and prestigious halls including: the Paris opera, Philharmonie, and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, la Scala-Paris, Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, the opera houses of Limoges and Saint-Etienne, the Salle Molière in Lyon, the Centre Pompidou-Metz, the Nouveau Siècle in Lille, as well as internationally.
